Our 2023 Survey Results are in!

In 2023 we ran our first SDA Participant Survey to better understand participants’ SDA lived experiences.

The intent of the survey was also to capture information to support our sophisticated Value for Money model comparing non-SDA scenarios with participants’ preferred SDA Scenarios, and also with NDIA approved non-preferred SDA scenarios. What > 90% of cases have shown to date is that participant preferred SDA represents excellent value for money for the NDIS, without regard to even broader economic benefits, let alone participant wellbeing. SDA outcome disappointment doesn’t just cause angst – it very frequently demonstrates false economy.

The modelling to date has drawn upon conservative assumptions gleaned from Participants, supports and clinicians, particularly OT’s.  What it hadn’t included and what we wanted to fortify the work with is actual survey data from participants who are living in SDA.

The survey was supported by a number of SDA providers from across Australia and we were delighted to receive an amazing response with 115 people completing the survey. SDA Participants told us that living in SDA improved their well-being, they had more access to support and felt safer.

The survey captured the differences that SDA has made to supports costs as well as other (more obliquely cost related) well-being outcomes and allowed us to further develop our SDA value for money modelling while simultaneously aligning with the NDIA’s determined stance on ‘value for money’.

We are very proud to share these results with you!
